Sound quality?
Is the sound kind of muddy on this recording or do I just need my ears cleaned?
Decent mixes...refreshing after last weeks rather soporific entry. Menace in particular drops all of kinds of interesting stuff even if it doesn't always work.

imo...you can clearly hear creators rip come from a digital source, it sounds a more rigid.(and a little distant)
My recordings comes from a high-end FM source, straight into my soundcard encoded with lame etc
...they are a touch softer, rounder with a richer frequency content.
no-ones has ever said my recordings i upload here, or anywhere else where 'muddy'...i don't take offence or anything. some ppl are just soo used to hearing digital atifacts in recordings, they freak when they hear smth natural.
I'm no audiophile...
So I will bow to your expertise. I guess my ears just love them digital artifacts (although isn't the source digital in any case? I don't think this is a live mix straight from vinyl).

i think we've had this discussion before...in the broadcast chain the signal will have been compressed, processed etc
it's like the whole vinyl Vs digital debate...technically digital should be superior(ie error correction)..but in really life the 'noise', that comes from an analogue source translates to muscial harmonics..without these the music can sound flat(especially played on a big system).
DAB radio has never lived up to expectations, 98% of stereo stations using a bit rate of 128 kbit/s with the MP2 audio codec, which is unable to match the audio quality provided by FM.
